The Orange finally ended an extensive losing streak, but the best they could muster was a 1-1 draw with NC State one week ago. That leaves the Orange at just 0-7-1 in the ACC and 6-8-2 overall, and pacing towards their worst conference finish since joining the ACC in 2013.
A glimmer of hope remains against Miami, who are second-to-last in the ACC, ahead of only the Orange. The Orange and the Hurricanes are the only two teams in the conference who have yet to secure a win against an ACC opponent, but Miami has managed three draws so far. If Syracuse can beat Miami, however, they can make up the difference and overtake the Hurricanes before the last matchup of the season against Boston College.
Last time out, Erin Flurey found the net for the Orange at just four minutes into the game, following a handball penalty to NC State. The Wolfpack later equalized, but Blythe Braun made a season high nine saves to keep NC State from finding a lead.
